More about CoolPlay…

Our primary beneficiaries are learners between the ages of 6-18 in low- & no- fee schools situated in some of the most under-resourced communities of South Africa. Each year a story of growth and development unfolds for each team. Age appropriate values and lessons are taught through sport and build self-awareness, confidence and resilience.

Our coaches are called Champions. They are recruited from within the local community and are role models and advocates for the CoolPlay Way.

On their journey with CoolPlay, Champions are upskilled to build their own personal resilience, to deliver fun and interactive sport and life skills sessions and to be positive agents of change.

Social and emotional developmental curriculum focus on the following themes:

Value-based goal setting – both personal & team
Personal responsibility & team values
Identifying skills and character strengths
Team cohesion and spirit
Communication
Maintaining composure
Developing optimism
Good, responsible decision making
Gender equity
