CoolPlay Area Manager : South Peninsula – JOB DESCIPTION
CoolPlay is looking for an independent and community-driven Area Manager to join our mission to develop resilient, socially and emotionally aware children using the power of sport and play. The position will be based in the South Peninsula on weekday afternoons with weekly management team meetings and responsibilities in the Southern Suburbs. Weekend work will also be required on occasion.
Title: CoolPlay Area Manager – South Peninsula, Cape Town
Purpose: To support programme activities in the South Peninsula of Cape Town and build on the CoolPlay network in the area.
Type: Fixed term contract position funded for 18 months

Requirements:
• To commit to learning CoolPlay’s unique training methodology by attending CoolPlay workshops, sports training workshops, and any other development workshops put forward by Management.
• To works closely with our local partners, particularly MasiSport.
• To work with Operations Manager to facilitate training of Champions, learners and Staff within the area.
• To develop and grow a successful CoolPlay area in line with Management’s growth strategy.
• To support, guide and develop the Champions in the area and promote professional programme delivery.
- Ensuring that one life skill (game, conversation or strategy) is dealt with at each CoolPlay Champions’ session delivered, using either the coaching material or by using an issue or circumstance facing the team at that particular time.
- Ensuring that Champions deliver sessions that integrate life skills for a minimum of 1 (one) hour and 20 (twenty) minutes per session twice a week.
- Ensuring equipment is available for training sessions & ensure Champions wear CoolPlay training gear during sessions.
• To take responsibility for schools or partners in your designated area and work with the partner or school administration and coach where available, to deliver effective CoolPlay methodology. This shall include monitoring the use of the data collection app (TEAMPact) and ensuring that this information is collected in accordance with the monitoring and evaluation plan.
• To collect, review and submit Champion session reports to the Operations Manager for each session conducted by the 20th of each month.
• To prepare to be proactive, take responsibility and come up with solutions to any problems. Issues that cannot be solved alone should be reported to the Operations Manager.
• Adhere to the CoolPlay values, as laid out in the CoolPlay Code of Conduct.
• To submit one ‘success story’ and newsletter feedback to the Operations Manager monthly as set out in the ‘Story’ template.
• To host two area tournaments per year.
• To meet with Ops Manager every two weeks to give critical feedback on progress.
• To actively engage with local businesses with a view to acquiring sponsorships/gifts in kind and donations that will enhance the overall offering in the area.
Additional Requirements:
1. Own car and driver’s license
2. Ability to be in South Peninsula on four afternoons a week
3. Own a computer and feel competent in email communication and report writing
4. A desire to make a difference in the South Peninsula Community
5. Attend weekly CoolPlay Management team meetings
6. Confident presenting life skills material to adults and learners
7. Passion for sport
